@BurungHantu yeah, federation is kind of annoying in that way. You either need mutual cooperation or hope that eventually your users will somehow find and follow everyone interesting so their posts show up on the federated timeline... which may work out well for this instance since you seem to be gaining users, hopefully they stick around :)

@BurungHantu you can’t just add instances as relays, unfortunately (because I’d love to add mastodon.social) — they need to join an actual relay server that you’re also a member of. So you gotta get people to join relay.fediverse.me 😉

@nk52sX3pY7 you only see posts from people on your own instance on the Local Timeline, or people that you follow on Home.

You can click Federated Timeline to see posts from people that *anyone* on your instance follows, or posts from any instance yours relays with. For example the social.privacytools.io instance is a member of https://relay.fediverse.us/ and https://relay.social.seattle.wa.us/ so it will see posts from any instances that are also members!
