lgbt.io blocks over 200 instances.

One of these is social.privacytools.io, an instance whose primary purpose is to provide a platform for discussing how to protect themselves from corporate (think google/facebook) and government (think NSA & Edward Snowden) surveillance.

While blocking some instances can be understandable, this level of blocking is overkill. If you insist on listening to #FediBlock, the least you can do is contact the instance admins and try to work something out beforehand.

@Sawmain also blocks social.librem.one, sneak.berlin and many others that I see nothing wrong with. Odd.

@freddyym @Sawmain These #fediblock people are genuinely nuts. My account is on some blocklist because I have “free speech” in my profile. Absurd.

@x I can understand blocking instances full of only NSFW content, but privacytools.io 's instance? Whats that done wrong? What did purism do wrong either? Makes no sense...

@freddyym some admins would rather have their own closed federation of servers rather than interact with everyone else on mastodon. It’s their loss IMO, because instances like lgbt.io are basically just re-creating Gab lol, but it’s also their prerogative. I’m assuming nobody here knows anyone on lgbt.io, so it doesn’t really matter to me. @x
