We now have our own Matrix homeserver, and it is running on #RockPro64 hardware just like the rest of our online infrastructure! All our discussion/support channels have been moved to it as their main address.

@crunklord420 with what hardware/how many users? I run into 100% CPU util on a Ryzen 9 3900, which appears to be mainly because Synapse is python and single-threaded :( Although I haven’t looked into Synapse workers yet.

Number of users doesn’t matter, but the number of rooms and their complexity does. That’s the main thing, with a ton of users we’re in a ton of rooms at once, which kills Synapse.
I've advertised the server for over the year with open registrations and whatever. I think it's got us banned from the CoC-controlled rooms on matrix.org but those rooms don't actually matter. Like with hardware, I'm not even sure if the number of users even matter.
