@crunklord420 with what hardware/how many users? I run into 100% CPU util on a Ryzen 9 3900, which appears to be mainly because Synapse is python and single-threaded :( Although I haven’t looked into Synapse workers yet.

@jonah Synapse is so bottlenecked by it's low quality code/implementation that I'm convinced that no amount of resources actually improves anything. I don't keep track of my active users, I've disabled most logging (for performance and privacy).

I've advertised the server for over the year with open registrations and whatever. I think it's got us banned from the CoC-controlled rooms on matrix.org but those rooms don't actually matter. Like with hardware, I'm not even sure if the number of users even matter.

Number of users doesn’t matter, but the number of rooms and their complexity does. That’s the main thing, with a ton of users we’re in a ton of rooms at once, which kills Synapse.

@jonah I'm convinced that if a single user joins the #8chan IRC bridge room it will bloat your DB with a million unprunable users.
