@Mayana technically we can't because right now it isn't hosted on our servers at all so I really have no access. However, we will be migrating to our own servers soon so we will have full control over all data on our instance :)
That does mean I'd have the technical ability to do so, but honestly that sounds like a lot of work for little reward, I'd have to read the database somehow, and I'm not exactly a Postgres expert... and I have better things to do than read private messages anyways lol
@Mayana but yes other instance admins could as well, so there's really no winning there. PMs on here are primarily for convenience. If you need *security* you should use a dedicated IM app like Signal, Matrix, etc.
