I released an app called Privacy Cell that verifies if the cell protocols your phone is using provide protection against stingray (IMSI catcher) man-in-the-middle attacks.
I need help and boosts are welcome!
So I want to include books by and about Romani people, especially because they are one of the most overlooked demographics where I live.
But it's... not easy to find books *by* Romani (or just GRT) authors. The only one I've found (and ordered for my personal collection) has been The Color of Smoke.
Does anyone know of any others?
Currently #TubeLab receives a lot of one star ratings due to the default German instance which is down for weeks.
We replaced it with the default one peertube.social
Currently, the #Fdroid version is locked due to this issue: https://gitlab.com/fdroid/fdroiddata/-/issues/2278
We are waiting a go after our fixes. We built the library from scratch (it's used for the torrent support).
Please, be patient we should be able to publish the fix soon.
The FOSS Mastodon/Friendica/PixelFed/Pleroma app Fedilab and the FOSS PeerTube app TubeLab now have a new combined official account. You can follow them both at:
➡️ @apps
(This also includes news about other apps by the same author such as UntrackMe and OpenMultiMaps.)
Their official website is at https://fedilab.app
The apps are available from @fdroidorg and Google Play

@NicolasConstant @mariusor I would be very interested. I swore off traditional social media but do occasionally miss some of my twitter folks.
A reminder that Mastodon has tools such as block, mute, and "Hide Boosts" to help you curate your experience, and we recommended you use them.
Is there someone who appears in your timelines often who you'd rather not see? Feel free to mute/block! A hashtag/topic that one person won't stop talking about? Filter it! A person who boosts way too much for your liking? Go to their profile, click the "…" button, and select "Hide boosts!"
Make this the social experience *you* want!

@krash Krash, look at Etam's reply to this post. You can see a list of the activitypub supported parts of the fediverse at this link. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fediverse So I think that means I can follow accounts on any of the supported networks and view content like videos if I know the link from my mastodon account. If accurate, for me, I think having accounts on those native platforms will provide less frustrating experience. I may just follow the same people on all my accounts.
@Mayana Thank you for this!
@supernova (2) That and I'm working on learning and setting up my own cloud photo, cloud music, and cloud storage (all new to me) while trying to make sure I'm doing that as securely as possible. I also want to run my own XMPP on my server but this feels peybond my reach because I don't understand the install instructiobs as docker, tarballs, CPanel, php, etc. are also all new. All that to say I'm very interested but kind of spread out all over trying learn a lot of new stuff.
@supernova (1) Indeed I did. I'm working on trying to figure out at least the initial stuff for the OnePlus 7T (t-mobile) so I can contribute it to the rosta, if not take it the full way. However, linux, terminal, git, and their terminology are all new to me; and the only Android rooting/modification I've done had detailed instructions already worked out.
@etam Okay, that makes sense. So I'll just need to find servers and setup profiles on the other sites if I want to actively follow someone there. Thanks for the info!
@gandalf86 I can understand that. I use this site a lot to help me transition to more privacy centric tools. Their email section mentions at least one that accepts multiple cryptos. I've only used Mail Fence and PM, so I don't know what the service is like elsewhere https://www.privacytools.io/providers/email/... Also maybe someone can vet the legitimacy and efficacy of private crypto swappers like https://stealthex.io/ or Changelly
@gandalf86 Can you exchange monero for bitcoin/litecoin and still remain private? For example, Anonymously aquire monero then use it to Purchase Bitcoin then purchase email service? Even if someone traced the bitcoin payment going back the next step just leads to the anonymous originator, no? If so, I like proton mail. If not and doing that exchange is like logging into your Facebook on Tor and exposes your identity I'm not sure of one.
Also, new to #fediverse. I have been researching how to degoogle and defacebook (and other "traditional" social media) my life, which lead me here. My understanding is the fediverse is connected so how would I connect this profile with #peertube or #friendica etc.? Also, is there a good way to run these platforms in a linux program on desktop vs browser?
