Also, new to . I have been researching how to degoogle and defacebook (and other "traditional" social media) my life, which lead me here. My understanding is the fediverse is connected so how would I connect this profile with or etc.? Also, is there a good way to run these platforms in a linux program on desktop vs browser?

@joebrig welcome! I am also interested in connecting my Mastodon with #peertube and #friendica, but haven't gotten around to look into it yet. let me know if you find out?

@krash Krash, look at Etam's reply to this post. You can see a list of the activitypub supported parts of the fediverse at this link. en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fedive So I think that means I can follow accounts on any of the supported networks and view content like videos if I know the link from my mastodon account. If accurate, for me, I think having accounts on those native platforms will provide less frustrating experience. I may just follow the same people on all my accounts.

@joebrig that is pretty neat! It would be nice if diaspora (who is vastly older than Mastodon) would also adpot activitypub and get some interconnectivity that way.

Now I just need to find someone on frendica to follow!
