My understanding is the fediverse is connected so how would I connect this profile with #peertube or #friendica etc.? Also, is there a good way to run these platforms in a linux program on desktop vs browser?

@joebrig You don't connect your profile. Federation means that you can use your Mastodon account to interact with people using other services on other servers.
For example this is "Big Buck Bunny" on blender peertube: https://video.blender.org/videos/watch/bf1f3fb5-b119-4f9f-9930-8e20e892b898 You can paste this link in your mastodon search box and post comments to it.
