I picked up a #Nokia 3310 3G on clearance for $15 at my local Walmart. It is now my "daily driver" while I contemplate whether to go back to a #smartphone (and, if so, which one to get) or just work on readjusting my #expectations and ways of doing things.
There is a battle raging in my mind between #convenience and #privacy. The two don't have to be mutually exclusive, but the likes of #Google, #Amazon, and #Facebook have tried to make them so.
@dallin one thing I’ve considered doing is carrying a dumb phone (with wifi hotspot ting available) all the time, and then having an iPod or smartphone I can use just for maps or what have you on the days I need it.
@dallin that is another option! Maybe it will be less frustrating this time now that you’ve had experience with it before. Have your looked at /e/ phones? I think you can buy them preloaded with their OS.
@jenn
I'm also considering purchasing an Android phone compatible with #LineageOS. The thing is, I tried it once before, and while I did enjoy it, it was quite a process to get it installed. Hours and hours of scouring tutorials and forums and much frustration and head scratching until I finally figured it out. And then the phone I bought decided to brick itself (catastrophic hardware failure). I may try again, but I still have a bad taste in my mouth from that experience.
