Covid-19 exposure app got pushed to my wife's Android phone in the last few days. Google was never given permission to install that!

@GoatsLive was it the exposure app or the framework that allows other apps to notify you more directly?

Because the "COVID-19 exposure notifications" settings inside the Google settings of the phone is literally only for the notifications side of things - it does not perform contact tracing or any data collection (outside of Google's normal (evil) practices)

@GoatsLive I should reiterate: without a deliberately installed contact-tracing app the google exposure notification service does effectively nothing. The reason the service was implemented was to avoid the limitations that running apps in the background has on Bluetooth communications

@hackathy I do understand all that, but would have still like to have been informed of it being installed. That is my beef. My phone has a custom ROM so google can't touch it.
