@technoprenerd Is metamask safe, dependable? A lot of sites use it and I’m hesitant to transfer currency to something that sits in my browser. Currently don’t have a hardware wallet.
@technoprenerd thanks. I did look into it a bit but i value the opinions on here a bit more. You can always find articles for and against.
@gritnot thanks, I understand. I do recommend to get a hardware wallet eventually!
@gritnot @technoprenerd I recommend using some ethereum wallet on TailsOS since you need root account enabled (which isn't by default) for some malware you get to run. Also there is encrypted persistent storage for your seed word list to be safe.
@nikolal @technoprenerd ah good call! I forgot about tails
@gritnot I'm aware this isn't directed towards me, so you can disregard my comment if you'd like haha.
Browser wallets generally are much worse security-wise when compared to standalone software wallets (assuming the host OS is secure), or especially hardware wallets. If you don't have the current capability of using a hardware wallet, then use a software wallet on a secure host OS or on a live OS that can be set to store things between sessions like tails.
@gritnot Metamask is a hot wallet and in that sense less secure than a hardware wallet. However, it is convenient and it's integrated In Brave's browser.
Also, only download and verify from the trusted website Metamask.io
Only put into it what you'd want to really miss. Attack surface is larger, think about if you'd download a malicious extension.
