A few years back I downgraded to a “dumb” feature phone for a few months. I think of this from time to time and wonder if I could do it again. As the years press on, technology advances, and the pandemic pushes your job into your personal life, I’m not sure it’s feasible at all.
@Wetrix yup, and using your personal phones for communication
@gritnot yeah I had that at my last jobs to. One even required it and made you sign an agreement to use your own personal phone!
😒📱
@gritnot I think it would certainly be hard. You'd certainly have to disconnect from your phone almost entirely. No Signal, no texting, no masto, etc. I know I'd have a hard time without Signal. If you go for it then I'd be really interested to see how you fare!
@ThreeBadgersInATrenchcoat last time I did it, the hardest part was the annoyance of closest friends and family. “Oh right...” they would say. Also offline map navigation is feasible but cumbersome. You end up relying on other people for the smart features.
@gritnot oh you mean jobs trying to get ahold of you after hours and stuff?
