Does anyone know of a good FOSS alternative to Scrivener? I've heard Scrivener itself is a great tool for writers that are concerned about managing multiple chapters and narratives, but I was curious about whether there were any good alternatives out there.
From what I can tell so far, there's:

* Manuskript
* Plume Creator
* Bibisco

So far, I'm not super impressed. All of these projects are young, undersupported, and don't have great UIs.

Maybe it's worth exploring some kind of browser-based solution...

@sean I honestly haven't found anything that scratches that Scrivener itch. A good Web based one is novlr but it's not cheap.

@gray yeah, I figured as much. Unfortunately, they haven't maintained a native Linux version in a long time.

I'm currently using Manuskript and, despite my mild distaste towards KDE applications and the lack of a mature codebase, it's still pretty good. A lot of it is centered around the process of developing characters, locations, and narratives.

At the very least, it's helping me flesh out the different stages of what should happen in the story, while thinking about what else might be happening in the background.
