@remotenemesis

I like Mint myself... I just want to make sure there's no driver hell with this one first, and I have an Ubuntu thumbdrive handy.

@koenaro @thegibson @gray @remotenemesis @opensuse Dear god... I had to load ubuntu for something, annoyingly, recently because I couldn't be bothered to make it work on anything else... That said, why not arch, or at least slackware...

@thegibson @koenaro @gray @remotenemesis @opensuse I mean, can't be more lazy than slackware... It's baby town frolics, and will install on most toasters.

@thegibson @opensuse @remotenemesis @gray @koenaro @seven This resonates man. I used slackware as my primary distro up through like 2010, but I'm lazy now.

@ajroach42 @seven @koenaro @gray @remotenemesis @opensuse

I used it back in 2000-ish timeframe... but I can't be arsed with that kind of dedication now.

@thegibson @ajroach42 @koenaro @gray @remotenemesis @opensuse Am I the only one with recent slackware memories around here?! Say it ain't so? You weren't even tempted to try release 13.37?

@thegibson @ajroach42 @koenaro @gray @remotenemesis @opensuse Nothing teaches you how much you don't actually "need" a package manager in the current sense of the word, than slackware and still have a useful, stable, and secure system... That said I may only have one box with slackware on it at the moment. ;)

@ajroach42 @seven @gray @remotenemesis @opensuse @thegibson I am heading towards lazy town these days also. I feel alienated from myself

but I also have things to do that involve going outside

@koenaro @remotenemesis @thegibson @gray @opensuse Yeah Pat's had some hard times, the crew has been helping as much as possible, but there is no doubt, the guy behind one of the big 3 base distros lives a bit under the level of the founders of the other two... Sad really...

@seven @koenaro @thegibson @gray @remotenemesis @opensuse When Ubuntu has RAID drivers that Redhat doesn't, you know something's wrong.

@drwho @koenaro @thegibson @gray @remotenemesis @opensuse RedHat has raid drivers, for enterprise raid products. ;) They contribute more code to the kernel than anyone else.

@drwho @koenaro @thegibson @gray @remotenemesis @opensuse But for anyone wanting to toss him a little change, goes direct to him no dumbness (other than paypal fees naturally): paypal.me/volkerdi

@seven @koenaro @thegibson @gray @remotenemesis @opensuse Not for all of them. Definitely not for the PERC cards in the newer Dell servers.

@drwho @koenaro @thegibson @gray @remotenemesis @opensuse Is the box on the redhat certified list? If yes, support ticket, if no, well... You know the drill I would imagine...

@seven @koenaro @thegibson @gray @remotenemesis @opensuse That would mean that I'd need a yearly budget that wouldn't pay for a single server, and nothing else that FY. :(

@drwho @koenaro @thegibson @gray @remotenemesis @opensuse Donations? Kinda like tips, let the app ask for them... Better yet, make it distributed on the phones the people use to ask for a ride! And still ask for donations... 🤔
