@gray Hi Gray! Love the Masto address :) What aspect of privacy interests you?
@feoh Hey! No one aspect in particular. I just feel that everyone has the right to control their own online data. Working towards de-googling everything right now. Facebook was cut out years ago 😁.
Have a real interest in open source software and believe it's the way forward.
I'm a networking/sys admin by day (also a freemason!).
@gray Welcome to the fediverse brother! Yeah Facebook is a mess. I avoid it whenever I can. There are a few of us on here. Have you met @TheGibson ?
@thegibson @feoh well howdy doody!
@thegibson @feoh there's an instance that could be interesting...
@thegibson @feoh getting some of the older lot to use email is a task. Getting them to send pictures could be... challenging :).
I don't know about you guys, but I bring the average age of the members down somewhat!
@TheGibson @gray Very glad to hear! We've got a number of lodges like that here in New England too, but we've also got some lodges that are ossifying and aging out BADLY.
@thegibson @feoh it's certainly an older man's club, especially in my area in the UK. Some of the stories those older guys have can be fantastic though.
It's starting to get some young blood in, slowly.
@TheGibson @gray That's one of the beautiful things IMO is how you can get younger and MUCH older people rubbing elbows who'd never have had reason or opportunity to interact. IMO the rest of society would benefit from this kind of institution. I think the UGLE is onto something with their policy of supporting women's lodges.
@gray @TheGibson My lodge actually skews younger, but we're very much outliers in the district. Our guys ranger anywhere from 20ish to 50-ish, with a number of much older guys as well. That's a momentum thing. Get more younger men to join, they attract more younger men... :) Also I think being more than a knife&fork lodge helps. Younger people have plenty of venues to go eat food and drink beer. They seek more light, and you have to give it to them :)
