Not having a custom OS on my phone has been making me paronoid af.

Using NetGuard to block all internet traffic on the device and the system apps are going off the hook trying to access servers.

On top of that, the default device keyboard (Samsung) keeps setting itself back to default no matter how many times I change it. So im stuck with a spy keyboard.

I really need LineageOS or /e/OS or im gonna lose my mind, but my device isn't supported.

@glitcher32 So many good alternatives are about to come out.

First, Librem 5 is around the corner. Might not be as functional as the main stream devices on the market but for privacy, it will be miles ahead of everything else.

Then the Pinephone will be coming out, this will directly compete with the Librem 5.

Fairphone 3 is about to be announced (I think). Fairphone is prob the phone I would use with Ubuntu Touch or LineageOS.

@kylejj I like phones that are big and look sexy, but the Librem and Pinephone isnt doing it for me.

I hope the Fairphone 3 (which comes tomorrow) looks better than the 2.

@glitcher32 Don't be one of those people that demand a private and secure phone but won't use it for such minor things like how "sexy" it looks or "this random spec isn't as good as the main stream phone".

Your missing the point if that's the case...

You need to figure out what your priorities are when it comes to a device you use daily. For me its always privacy & security > everything else.

@kylejj I don't mind, it would just be a nice touch. Don't act like its not possible and "affordable" for companies to do some great things. There are so many chinese Android devices out there that look and run great that cost as much as $80.00 USD or less.

Many companies wanna just eat peoples money and get heavy profit engraving in peoples head that "you can't get anything nice for cheap".

Im not hating nor talking any shit on these privacy brands because I know one day they will improve. 😀

@glitcher32 No hard feelings all around. I just don’t get how people can compare the Samsung's of the world, multi-billion dollar companies, to these tiny companies making their first phone. All while making a phone and operating system that cares about your privacy. The value in that is so much higher than how the phone looks. The Librem 5 or Pinephone have to be the size of a cinder block for me to go “Alright, I’m not into this...” Lol

@glitcher32
I just keep hearing the same irrelevant complains.

Person A is in dire need of a privacy focused phone.

Person B suggests Librem or Pinephone.

Person A complains about something insignificant. (Screen Size, Supported Apps, Camera Quality, etc)

A valid issue I see is the high price of the Librem 5. Purism has never been on the high value side but still, it’s a pretty steep price. I guess that’s where the Pinephone comes in at $200.
