Is there any free internet number services out there for calling/texting? (Privacy friendly of course) Real phone service like AT&T, Sprint, or Verizon are dangerous.
@glitcher32 I don't know about any free ones that provide actual phone numbers, which it sounds like that's what you mean. But there are some inexpensive options like MySudo (iOS only right now) or jmp.chat. There are VOIP providers out there too. What exactly do you want to do? Have a WiFi only device but with a phone number other people with phones can call?
@glitcher32 Also Line2 and Vonage might be options. They are more expensive but have great features like voicemail.
@glitcher32 I need a "follow thread" option for when someone replies with a good answer because I would also like to know
I don't know if it's possible. the infrastructure and radio licensing alone seems like it's improbable. then again, that grass roots internet access initiative in NYC and scotland(??) proves me wrong, I suppose :x
