I know XMPP gets frowned upon here. However, having never used it, I though I might as well try it out.

Yes I am using a client with OMEMO.
@icyphox its because many of the XMPP clients are not stable enough and do not support E2EE on by default for private conversations. XMPP clients do not use E2EE for VOIP related features either.
@freddyym I don’t really participate in XMPP chat channels much. They never super impressed me. But it’s not any worse than the Fediverse, functionality-wise. Your server is refusing STARTTLS, by the way, so mine can’t connect to it.
@freddyym Frowned upon? Why? I love XMPP and advocate using it over other “secure messengers”. Decentralized comms for the win.
