Genuine question...

Why are people deleting their Keybase accounts?

I assume it’s a result of the sale to Zoom, but I don’t understand it. Yeah, Zoom have had some privacy and security issues, but I think that’s more indicative of their huge rise in popularity, rather than them being a bad company. From what I’ve seen, they’re taking the issues seriously and trying to fix them.

Am I missing something?

@kev I won't be deleting mine. I also won't be using it until we find out more about Zooms plans.

@freddyym @kev It's also worth noting that you can't exactly delete your account. Since they put everything on a Blockchain it's always there. All deleting your account does is mark that it's been revoked. I don't know why more people aren't aware of this.

@WhoNeedszZz @freddyym I actually wasn’t aware of this. That’s very interesting.

@kev @freddyym It was eye opening for me when I discovered it for sure! This also directly demonstrates why Blockchains are really not ideal solutions. Being able to go back and delete data you don't want permanent is an essential function!
