So except for work I'm already doing on projects like #homeassistant, I'm ready to #deletegithub , already have my own #gitea.

I understand the why, now the how of regaining the github network effect: are we working towards a federated git network? Or should make gitlab.com a new centralised place for foss?

'Cause I like my #gitea instance for my personal stuff, but what do I do with a new project that aims to grow?

@yarmo I'm going to start putting all my projects onto sr.ht (when I actually get round to making them, that is.)

It has no JS, is 100% open source and has only had 2 outages this year, both of which were planned and announced a week in advance.

Hard sell, I know. However, I genuinely like the product.

@freddyym that's not a hard sell at all, I already have an account but now I'll actually try it for real

@yarmo yeah, looking back it wasn't really. But when I was writing it I felt like a bit of a shill for some reason.

@freddyym
@yarmo I am moving to #codeberg which is running #gitea. It is only for open and foss projects.

@humanetech @yarmo I tired gitea, though unless you self host it I don't really see the point.

@freddyym selfhosting removes the thread of centralisation, but adds the burden of administration and maintenance.

I had a gitea instance hacked when I wasn't using it for a while and forgot to upgrade nginx and gitea itself.

@yarmo

@humanetech @yarmo wow.

At one point I was using 0xcab for all my work, but now I just really like sr.ht
