Opinions on search.carrot2.org/#/web ?
After reading this, forking Carrot2 might be a good bet. (Or if SearX would actually work that'd be great!)

@freddyym huh, interesting project! I also recently learned that these engines have their own search index while others rely on Google or Bing for results:

- qwant.com/
- mojeek.com/
- beta.cliqz.com/
- seznam.cz/

@andreas Never heard of Seznam. Cliqz is adware, I'm fairly sure.

@freddyym yeah it looks like Seznam was the first search engine based in the Czech Republic and you're right about Cliqz; they have a problematic history ugh.

I think MetaGer though may be the only non-profit search engine:

"Based in Germany, and hosted as a cooperation between the German NGO 'SUMA-EV - Association for Free Access to Knowledge' and the University of Hannover, the system is built on 24 small-scale web crawlers under MetaGer's own control." - en.wikipedia.org/wiki/MetaGer

@freddyym it’s annoying, but when a Searx instance’s IP is mostly blocked you bounce to another and try again: searx.space/
