Remember the mantra: people are people, and people are stupid. They can be lazy, moronic, ignorant, arrogant, infantile, and everything in between. When you make or do something that involves other people, that is really the second half of said project: accounting for the stupidity of people. If it doesn't directly affect them in a big or flashy way, then they won't care. It's why cybersecurity and privacy is hastily being torn and sold away in the UK and US.
