@dajbelshaw the question of how to fund good jounralism comes up time and time again.
(physical) Newspapers used to funded by adverts. And these adverts weren't at all invasive. Now, some publications don't like having these style ads on their sites. Enter companies like EthicalAds.io providing newspaper style adverts online. If I didn't have a paywal but I had these ads I'd be vert happy, though sadly I doubt this will ever happen:

Just a quick reminder to sugest me as a nominee for the Noonies! I'm currently listed under CyberSecurity, though I'd be more suited to the privacy category. Thanks in advance!

And also this great quote:

@simpletech thanks for the kind words! Really ought to write my reviews. I'm currently reading Prisoners of Geography, a good book about geopolitics, and certainly not the sort of thing I'd normally read. Very interesting, yet it is heavy reading. Almost a third done, so expect a review at some point in the ~distant~ near future.

I wrote a short script that downloads YouTube videos from channels I like so I can watch them wherever I want, whenever I want, and with whatever media player I want.

@markosaric yeah, I've submitted one of my posts and it only got one comment, then another poster submitted it and it got 60 votes. This GitHub repo contains some very useful information:
@markosaric yeah, it depends on timing I guess. The fact that this has been up for nearly 50 iminutes and only has 3 upvotes isn't hopeful, but if anyone sees this thread in time it might work. I'm really interested to learn more about HNs hidden ways.
@markosaric once again I've commented to help with engagement, though I feel as if it needs a few more upvotes in a short period of time to reach the front page...

Let's make two conclusions:
1. Free licensing is not a panacea. If something is licensed under GNU General Public License or any of Creative Commons licenses etc., it still doesn't mean that it 100% may be copied. Please keep this in mind.
2. If you want people to know that they are allowed to copy your product freely, don't forget to add at least a promise to not sue them for a trademark or a patent infringement.
