My view is that the privacy intrusions of surveillance capitalism seems to cause mostly collective damage on society. - Mass political manipulation (Cambridge analytica) - Filter bubbles that cause polarization mostly through social media.
I can't see how we can have a working democracy without a relatively common view on society, and we can't allow mass manipulation of our feelings and attitudes either.
