I really love the idea of Mastodon and am debating using it as a self-hosted, family-only social network. Right now I'm using #humhub which is a great facebook-like FOSS alternative. I'd prefer a twitter alternative but I am wondering... can you use Mastodon without connecting it to the fediverse? in other words, keeping it completely private and isolated to one server?
Yes @frantumn , you could block every other instance, which would be a bore but do-able.
