The privacy.io community at matrix is somewhat toxic. After raising criticism against gab and the support for #gab @ (a network of and for white supremacists) multiple people used appeal to ridicule to dilute criticism against supporting the far-right.
Moderators that were present didn't care or supported it.

The context of that was I don't control what other people do (nor can I).

The argument that because we're not in agreement we're in support of white supremacists and fascists, is ridiculous.
It's the same argument used by politicians when invading civil liberties and privacy ala: "If you're not with us you're helping terrorists and pedophiles".
