And I finally made it to add an index page to my "Today I learned…" collection. With this new index page the articles are now discoverable and there is also an RSS feed for those who want to use a feed reader.

New Blog Post: Colours for Gitea Issues

"When I used to use Gitea, I created a colourscheme for classifying issues. Even though I'm not using it anymore, I figured others may get some use out of it."

With #Signal continuing to roll out PINs and making them mandatory despite all the criticism, I decided to finally look at #Matrix that people are recommending. Unfortunately, so far I'm not too impressed. Structural issues haunting most open source projects show here as well.

There's a new F-Droid client release candidate (v1.9). If you want to test this, you can update to it manually from the F-Droid client. (Browse to the app, expand the version list and install the 1.9 version, make sure your repository index is up-to-date beforehand)

Please report any issue you find.

#Minetest ContentDB now supports reviews!

Head to your favourite (or least) content and review it. The better reviews a package receives, the higher it'll appear in the content list.

Mastodon's mute feature is really cool. There are some accounts that post things that contribute to anxiety but I don't want to block them since the posts don't target me and I am perfectly fine with them browsing my posts. I really like how it still allows the person to directly contact you even while muted.

Of course if someone were malicious a block would be appropriate.

TIL you can't actually delete a room on Matrix.

As an admin you can kick everyone off a channel, then ask the other admins to leave, then it'll be "queued for deletion"

I'm guessing this bizarre oversight occurred because it's what IRC does 🤷‍♂️

TIL that if you try messing with about:config in the new Beta, the changes crash the app so badly that you have no choice but to reinstall it.

Geez, I just wanted the URL bar to stop suggesting "popular" websites to me.

Reminder: The Web isn't universal, or at least as universal as it could easily be. And its open standards don't mean much when only Google has the manpower to implement them all.

Sure it's ethically better than the other mainstream platforms, but that's a low bar! So, sure, target it as a stopgap. If you want something better, build an alternative or promote your favourite Linux distro.

I'll be building a Web that's truly universal, relying on external efforts to obtain feature parity.
