@Gargron youneedabudget.com has been a godsend esp. with the automatic import of transactions so that I can enter manually once when I complete the transaction via the iOS app, and then verify that transaction once it clears in a couple of days and is imported. They work with and talk to each bank and have chat support that isn't usually immediate but *is* usually pretty helpful and informative.

*not* decentralized/federated but I find it worth it.

"Be gay do crimes" and "boss makes a dollar, I make a dime, that's why I poop on company time" have inspired more direct action in the younger generation than all the somber old slogans combined, and it's because they're funny and memeable. It's because every gen z will see both on social media at one point in at least one form, and they'll stick in their mind

the cool thing about discoverability features in social media is that random people can find what you post more easily

I've seen a few people complain that the black hole picture is a waste, that humanity has our environment or povery or whatever else as a far far more immediate pressing matter than to take a photo that is 'an orange smear'.

The issue at hand here isn't science funding, the issue at hand is the total structure of industrial capitalism. If you cut astronomy funding to 0, how much do you think of that would go towards social projects? How much would go towards sustainable degrowth? How much would go towards ANYTHING that goes against tje ideological principles of neoliberal capitalism.

On the contrary, there are people who find a deep romantic wonder and an inherent artistic value in things like this. People finding wonder in the world, being humbled by the nature and otherness of it is a beautiful way to look at the world. Don't light your torches at astronomy, capitalism is your issue

matrix

matrix.org down, apparently. A problem with the matrix project is that they should have focused more effort on getting people to host servers earlier on, so that the load wasn't highly concentrated on one domain.

One easy way to do this would be to make the choosing of a server more obvious during the setup of Riot, rather than just defaulting to matrix.org. In 99.9% of cases users will just go with whatever the default is.

@BestGirlGrace @mood @Katie @spookcentral When you're registering your second domain in that TLD, you can register in confidence, knowing that it's not your first .rodeo

Pixelfed will be a year old in a few days.

I'm a high school dropout that has never taken any CS or computer classes.

Web development is just a hobby of mine, I work in the auto industry.

I'm so proud of this project, I never would have imagined that I could make something like this.

Thank you for helping me realize credentialism isn't so important as you think. ❀️ :pixelfed:
