I see there is a misunderstanding. I am advocating for the default SMS application to be replaced with a better encrypted message that supports sms. Like Signal when they get better. There are a couple in f-droid thtmat I have used overtime and I never use the built in sms but the app I install that can handle both sms and encrypted messages.

Silence and Signal are duo that can handle both SMS and IM encryption. Problem is how to get people that are close to you to use them.
