Just stumbled across #ParrotOS. A security-oriented distro, but designed to be a daily driver. I think I might just try this...
Open Letter: To my Trump-supporting family. - My Daughter's Army
A US navy veteran writes an open letter to his Trump-supporting family - and oh boy, he does not hold back. If you've ever been disappointed that someone in your family voted for Trump, I urge you to read this. It's beautifully written & painfully honest.
#trumpistan #resistance #OpenLetterYes, of course I want a rotary cell phone.
The power switch is an actual slide switch. No holding down a stupid button to make it turn off and not being sure it really is turning off or what. http://justine-haupt.com/rotarycellphone/

The 90s were a weird time. RedHat Linux had the option to install os using the "redneck" language.
Does anyone know if there is an #ELinks reboot? ELinks is a text mode browser that is among the most usable, and is a go-to of mine for looking things up when my system malfunctions and won't run the display server correctly. The problem is that the official version hasn't been updated since 2012, and OpenBSD removed it from their repositories because of potential security flaws.
If you know of a fork that is at least somewhat recent please tell.
A recent article on a big tech news site included this phrase:
"[...] Linux phones like the PinePhone, [...]are full of closed-source firmware from non-open components"
We'd like to clear the record: The #PinePhone has two blobs -- neither runs on the main SoC: One loaded to WiFi/BT module, other enclosed within the cell modem. In the modern world of tech, both blobs are unavoidable.
For an overview from someone with deep knowledge of both the PinePhone and Librem 5: https://tuxphones.com/yet-another-librem-5-and-pinephone-linux-smartphone-comparison/
The station is owned by a Florida-based company and will play six hours daily of content from Radio Sputnik, which is (I shit you not) owned by the Russian government and outputs their state propaganda.
Russian state propaganda being broadcast on an American radio station in Kansas City.
Lenin is reputed to have said "the capitalists will sell us the rope with which we will hang them." and as time goes on I can see what he meant.

I wish there were better categorization of articles for certain news sites that I subscribe to.
For example I’d love to turn off all the non-policy relevant common crime news. (Does that gruesome murder have policy/societal implications? No? Then I really don’t want to read about it!)
Awesome, just configured the Firefox addon "Temporary Containers" to open every non "always open in"-tab as temporary tab.
This prevents a lot of CSRF attacks, even when websites themselves didn't implement proper measures.
To implement it I use those two addons:

Our friend Chris finally did a write-up of his 16 core Z80 alternate future cyberdeck, and it is absolutely beyond bonkers:

If you have a .org domain name: go renew it now. For the full 10 years.
Registration rights for .org were just bought by a private equity firm. And as part of that contract, the price caps were removed.
Anything in .org will get much more expensive, soon.
A ten year renewal will cost you a bit over a hundred bucks. Which is probably less than one year will cost you in the very near future.

"Do you have something to hide?" is a manipulative rebuke to those that use #encryption.
It would help us all turn this conversation around. Because, the answer is: YES, we do have something to hide.
Things that we should hide, and must question why a government or business NEEDS access to:
- Medical history.
- Sensitive conversations with employers, children, spouses.
- Billing and banking information.
- Purchase information.
- Web search history.
And more...
