Having a cow-orker with whom I've had a long mutual antipathy become my immediate boss is... stressful.
@antifuchs @joeyh you might like NewPipe. It's an Android app for YT that will let you do things the official client prevents, like downloading, playing in the background, and blocking ads.
It's available on Github and a dedicated fdroid repo.
@tindall fair warning: the second book is *really different* from the first. You will WTF a lot, albeit for reasons explained later in the book.

@dredmorbius IME it's memory leaks and runaway Javascript. I've managed to have Firefox exhaust 32GB RAM all by itself once or twice with a far saner number of tabs open.
I'd go for lots of RAM and a CPU with high per-core performance.
@dredmorbius "desktop" is how I know that style. A pizza box case is slimmer, like a Mac LC II.

I created this "Maslow's hierarchy of jobs" about 20 years go. Iv'e found to be good guide for when was time to move on (or stay). If you're failing at one or more of the lower 5 levels (pay not likely to continue, getting paid but nobody cares what you do) might be time to find a more productive gig.
You probably won't see this from HR in goals setting and performance management sessions.

Self-built IBM-XT compatibile #mini8088 #retrocomputer is up and running! Couldn't find a 28.636Mhz crystal, just a 14.318 one, so I'm stuck with a 4.77Mhz clock and a turbo mode of 7.16Mhz (no 9.55 for now).
Serial port, CF, audio, floppy and VGA all tested fine! Now I just need the smaller 8bit backplane and to drill holes in the brackets. #homebrewcomputing

Folks; the good news is that a couple of thousand chuds do not a coup make - even if the DC police are taking selfies with them.
The bad news is that about a third of the country is telling you they're done with democracy and any election the Volk don't win, is illegitimate.
The chuds in D.C. are the sideshow, the chuds in the Pennsylvania State legislature yesterday showed you what the GOP of the future is - and that's an objectively fascist party; employing objectively fascist politics.

A thread on why I use #ZFS. Each toot is one reason.
1/ Protection against Silent Data Corruption - data corruption that is not detected by any other component of the system. ZFS checksums or hashes every bit of data in the filesystem, data or metadata, and you can schedule a prediodic scan ("scrub") to see if all data is intact. On RAID setups, ZFS will automatically correct it for you. I've witnessed the value of this, particularly on petabyte-scale installations. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Data_corruption#Silent
