#Android: Google Play won't install/update apps.
Or itself.
This has been ongoing for a few months now. Samsung Tab A (sm-t550), Android 5.0.2. Yes, ancient.
I've gone through Google's fucking worthless troubleshooting:
https://support.google.com/googleplay/answer/7513003
1. Rebooted.
2. Cleared memory/cache.
3. Deleted/re-applied system / Google Play account.
4. Booted to Safe Mode.
5. Removed all Play Store updates.
6. Attempted to update Play Store from stock install.
No. Fucking. Joy.
At this point, what I'd like very much to do is:
1. Preserve system data. Most especially KeePass, as that bootstraps virtually everything else. Of installed apps ... Termux and PocketBook Reader are the ones of most concern.
2. Root the motherfucker.
3. Roll back to factory status.
4. Re-ROM, if at all possible.
Docs for this are 1) hard to find and 2) inspire negative confidence.
E.g., this crap: https://consumingtech.com/root-samsung-galaxy-tab-a-9-7-sm-t550-android-5-0-2/
Stock backup options are all to remote cloud services.
No. Fucking. Way.
@dredmorbius I can confirm that this process works for Linux as well. Have had to do this myself when Windows didn't want to cooperate.
@bthylafh Thanks.
There's an adb option as well. Which I *may* have done before.
