Paying extra for CO2 compensation might make you feel good but it doesn’t reduce CO2 output. Simple.
@jwildeboer i think the thought behind it is to make CO2 rich options less attractive.
@blacklight447 But how does that work? The negative view is IMHO "Those that can afford it get to pay for offsetting a bit of CO2 while the {airline, etc} saves money by continuing to use their CO2 emmitting tech longer." By putting the burden on the customer, the incentives are all wrong IMHO.
