@dansup The limit on data purchase or sale seems like it would be easily bypassed as well if you just share data freely between companies. Treat it as a gift and maybe you're fine?
Of course I'm not a lawyer and this interpretation is probably wrong, but most of the bills I've seen seem pretty toothless.
@dansup while I get that they probably included those thresholds to protect smaller businesses who aren't responsible for the majority of privacy violations, but it seems like it wouldn't be hard for a big business to bypass them.
All they need to do is restructure their business into multiple entities with revenue below 25M or with data sales accounting for 49% of their revenue.
Happy Republic day #india

CryptPad continues to be the *only* app suite that takes user privacy seriously.
Think 'Google Docs' but without mining and selling your personal data. https://twitter.com/cryptpad/status/1220046500341977088
CryptPad 3.10.0 is live on http://CryptPad.fr and released on GitHub (https://github.com/xwiki-labs/cryptpad/releases/tag/3.10.0). It introduces self-destructing pads and lots of spreadsheet improvements: viewing/editing for unregistered users, XLSX import/export, and more...
We've tagged CryptPad v3.9.0 on GitHub (https://github.com/xwiki-labs/cryptpad/releases/tag/3.9.0).
It includes relatively few bug fixes and features. Instead, we worked to simplify and standardize server configuration for the 300+ other admins hosting CryptPad.
Yep, it's that easy! 😂😭

We've just published our first blog post in a while: https://blog.cryptpad.fr/2019/12/31/Looking-back-looking-forward/ in which we reflect on 2019 and announce our plans for 2020.
We wish you you all a safe, happy, and private new year.
@portpupper porque no los dos ?
CryptPad v3.8.0 introduces the ability to suppress notifications from users that annoy you and to invite users to teams via one-time-use links. This is our last release of the year, as we'll be taking some time to gear up for 2020!
CryptPad v3.7.0 is named after the presumed-extinct Himalayan Quail. It introduces gantt charts via an improved mermaidjs integration as well as a streamlined sharing menu. Try it on https://cryptpad.fr and see the release notes on GitHub: https://github.com/xwiki-labs/cryptpad/releases/tag/3.7.0 #privacy
@dansup at this point my main use-case for it is to get a notification when one of my websites breaks (along with its proof).
I'm pretty sure the number of follows I've gotten on Keybase has grown 2-3x since they launched their cryptocoin airdrop. I'm also fairly sure that indicates a botnet looking to fool whatever social graph metric they have for proving that accounts are owned by real people.
Still, I bet they could get another few rounds of funding before VCs realize how inflated the user counts are.
So, botnet scammers trying to take advantage of their free money might get leveraged into an exit scam.
Smart.
We just released CryptPad 3.6.0, named after the Panamanian golden frog. This release features a number of bug fixes and another batch of usability improvements. Read the full release notes on GitHub (https://github.com/xwiki-labs/cryptpad/releases/tag/3.6.0) and try it out on https://CryptPad.fr ! #privacy4
banking, cryptocurrency commentary
@paragwei at least we can all agree that banks are also terrible.
banking, cryptocurrency commentary
@paragwei I don't think I've seen any coins that reduce power consumption without relying on centralization or handwaving.
Feel free to disagree, but if you really want to drag me into a debate this consider that I write crypto for a living.
banking, cryptocurrency commentary
99ish% of the time I think cryptocurrencies are a stupid waste of electricity.
...that said, every now and then I need to make a large payment which is both legal and well within my budget, but is almost invariably declined due to a decision made by a completely unaccountable algorithm.
Getting a response from my bank seems to take at least 48 hours, if they respond at all.
Imagine setting the bar so low that a bunch of libertarians could trip over it. wow.
September has been our best month ever for premium subscriptions on http://CryptPad.fr! We've received 965 Euros so far. It's silly, but our accountant would love to have a nice number. One more team subscription would put us over 1000!
CryptPad v.3.2.0 (Chilihueque) is now available on GitHub (https://github.com/xwiki-labs/cryptpad/releases/tag/3.2.0)
Chilihueque lays some important groundwork that we'll use to introduce teams in our next release (in addition to some smaller bug fixes and optimizations).
