Community contributions (contribs coming from outside a paid, core team), are:

I'd love to hear your thoughts. Myself, I've only ever worked on open source projects where the core team was paid by some company to work full-time on the software, and a steady trickle of community contributions helped a bit with quality but sucked up a LOT of time from devs.

Because of that experience that _I_ have, I question whether long-tail contributions are really worth the trouble, or whether the focus should be on growing the core team (and trying to finance it if possible).

I can already tell this is gonna be a juicy one.
