I'm pretty sure the number of follows I've gotten on Keybase has grown 2-3x since they launched their cryptocoin airdrop. I'm also fairly sure that indicates a botnet looking to fool whatever social graph metric they have for proving that accounts are owned by real people.
Still, I bet they could get another few rounds of funding before VCs realize how inflated the user counts are.
So, botnet scammers trying to take advantage of their free money might get leveraged into an exit scam.
Smart.
