99ish% of the time I think cryptocurrencies are a stupid waste of electricity.
...that said, every now and then I need to make a large payment which is both legal and well within my budget, but is almost invariably declined due to a decision made by a completely unaccountable algorithm.
Getting a response from my bank seems to take at least 48 hours, if they respond at all.
Imagine setting the bar so low that a bunch of libertarians could trip over it. wow.

@ansuz so many people have not yet recognized that not all the cryptocurrencies require to waste a lot of electricity.

@paragwei I don't think I've seen any coins that reduce power consumption without relying on centralization or handwaving.
Feel free to disagree, but if you really want to drag me into a debate this consider that I write crypto for a living.
