We're working on adding colors for folders in CryptDrive (github.com/xwiki-labs/cryptpad) and trying to decide on a color palette.

While there are lots of resources available for choosing small palettes which are accessible to people with colorblindness, we're having trouble finding larger ones (16-20 colors) which are still pleasant enough that people won't yell at us for being bad designers.

Can anyone point us in the right direction?

Hi so I was sent here from a vaguely related thread about visual accessibility, in which I was talking about my own issues having neurological problems related to a seizure disorder, and how for me, low contrast is the way to go, and really what I get out of it is that everybody's needs are different, and extensive customization really is the only way to accommodate the greatest number of people.

I know making multiple options when there are going to be multiple people in a group makes things exponentially more complicated.

@attackfish @cryptpad I really don't know much about this, other than it exists and is ignored most of the time. I'm starting to wonder if the best accessability solution is to somehow let each user apply their own color palatte to things. I'm not sure how to do that efficiently, but createing a gazillion color palettes for each web application and each web theme is a nightmare. Creating one is a nightmare for me personally. Yea, we have to consider what's best for the users and also balance that against how complicated a feature we can realistically support as a small team.

It's tricky, but it helps to hear different perspectives on the issue.
