The whole Jabber/XMPP ecosystem is encouraged to maintain a high level of interoperability and compliant modern features with the Compliance Suites.

Clients, servers, components, libraries are moving forward together.

@xmpp any suggestions
for an open source mobile client, well maintained from
non so called, battery life killer would be awesome!

Conversations is a gold standard in XMPP-world and arguably the only reason XMPP is alive at this point. One can complain about some default choices taken there but thereโ€™s no question that Conversations strives to be modern, user-friendly and secure at the same time and itโ€™s doing great. Iโ€™m running my entire family on it and theyโ€™re very happy.

Just make sure the server youโ€™re using is being properly maintained: https://compliance.conversations.im/

Yaxim is a tool for old-school XMPP nerds. Nothing wrong with that it just has this 2000s flavor. I would totally not recommend Yaxim for normal people as itโ€™s not as maintained as Conversations and targetted at a specialized XMPP users.

@wiktor thank you for your grand overview about Conversations.
but i'm not so technically experienced, to set up my own server.
so i say thank you twice for the link you post fot me. have a nice evening!

p.s. wich xephs & what encryption standard should i prefer?

Just go with what Conversations is recommending. That means OMEMO. If you'd like to read in more detail about it I recommend: https://github.com/siacs/Conversations#security

Also, Iโ€™m not sure whatโ€™s your relationship with privacytools.io but Mikaela knows a lot about practical XMPP so you may want to get it touch with her too: https://social.privacytools.io/@mikaela
