@xmpp any suggestions

@_microbe101 @xmpp I like Conversations. I run a handful of IMs including Delta, and my main battery eaters are still my browser and my screen. Delta is the "worst offender" on the IM side and even it eats only like 1%.

Run Ring or Antox though: Slurrrp.

@clacke @xmpp
thanks for your fast response,
reading allways good reviews of
Conversationes.im!
does anybody use Yaxim on mobile?

@_microbe101 @clacke @xmpp
Yes, Conversations is good, Yaxim is not bad, there is also Xabber...

Make your choice based on your own criteria :)

Conversations is a gold standard in XMPP-world and arguably the only reason XMPP is alive at this point. One can complain about some default choices taken there but there’s no question that Conversations strives to be modern, user-friendly and secure at the same time and it’s doing great. I’m running my entire family on it and they’re very happy.

Just make sure the server you’re using is being properly maintained: https://compliance.conversations.im/

Yaxim is a tool for old-school XMPP nerds. Nothing wrong with that it just has this 2000s flavor. I would totally not recommend Yaxim for normal people as it’s not as maintained as Conversations and targetted at a specialized XMPP users.

@wiktor thank you for your grand overview about Conversations.
but i'm not so technically experienced, to set up my own server.
so i say thank you twice for the link you post fot me. have a nice evening!

p.s. wich xephs & what encryption standard should i prefer?

Just go with what Conversations is recommending. That means OMEMO. If you'd like to read in more detail about it I recommend: https://github.com/siacs/Conversations#security

Also, I’m not sure what’s your relationship with privacytools.io but Mikaela knows a lot about practical XMPP so you may want to get it touch with her too: https://social.privacytools.io/@mikaela
