-they don't explain anything about Kong. They just like found skull island and they've been Umm.. holding him ever since?
-mad scientists want to goto middle earth for power and it just so they've they built a ship that can do that and also they found a tunnel TO THE CENTER OF THE EARTH IN THE ARCTIC you know, just chilling there.

- Middle earth was mentioned previously in almost all movies. Also, Jules Verne's book is awesome, and regardless of how logicless it might be today, I am glad the concept has been brought back, its just fun, and it was justified in Universe.
- This makes sense, I wanted to see what happened to the rest of the tribe and such. But they can keep him asleep I guess
- the Arctic actually has some holes like that, kinda weird
