I have been thinking about the concept of evil.
Most monstrosities caused in history have been because of religion, and those people didn't think they were evil at all. Quite the opposite, they thought they were doing the work of God.
So is there evil? As one said, kill one man & you're a murderer, kill a few thousand and you're a liberator.

Morals were misused to start wars against innocents (paint good or neutral as evil and you're good to go), religions were mostly invented and used to control people: to follow one man not democratically elected, to kill, to conquer. Or maybe to stay peaceful and just hope for a better life (Buddhism).
So, I would say religions are just tools to control people, more suitable in some cases than exploited concepts of good and evil.

Before government or law, you controlled people simply through fear.
If you steal, covet your neighbors wife or lie, you shall be cast out. Which in itself in those days was a death sentence.

Stop judging good/evil. A person can do evil but that doesnt make him an evil man. A person can do good things but that doesnt make him a good person.
Problem: There are extreme cases caused by active effort and will of usually evil in which case that man has to be stopped for the chaos he is causing to be stopped but for that to happen he has to be judged.
Conclussion: Some thought and research is needed

One man's terrorist is another's freedom fighter right? It's all pov from what I see maybe I'm wrong though 😊
@Wetrix read the problem..there are rare cases causes by active effort and will of usually evil...For example zodiac killer...Theres no way in hell to say that what he did was a matter of perspective.
@Wetrix me, a philosophy student and his friend havent been able to solve this problem...

@Wetrix From his perspective he was indulged in pleasure. Pleasure by itself isnt good or evil. But with active effort and will of evil pleasure may become evil.

Aren't all morals invented for self-preservation and other selfish reasons? Be kind to others - said someone who wanted everyone to be kind to him. So, let's say the concept of good is a survival mechanism, then a concept of evil is a counterweight for it to work - a list of what not to do of you want to survive as a species.
Different societies (or goverments, or autocratic rulers) needed different tools to control the people. That's where morals and religions come into play.
