I want to join the FOSS fed and even another one but I don't want to be jumping between multiple accounts all the time.

Sigh. I wish there was some kind of work around for this.

@mistermonster foss is the free open source fed. It's about everything open source πŸ˜ŠπŸ†“

@Wetrix yeah I know what FOSS is, I'm wondering what fed is. Are you talking about a website?
@Wetrix oh, OK, I usually see it referred to as Fedi shorthand.

Yeah there's a lot of FOSS oriented servers, mostly the communities will be programmers, are you interested in programming?

What servers are you interested in making an account on? If the server is a mastodon server you can do account migration, it will move all of your history and followers and stuff over from what I understand.

If you just want to talk to the people on them can't you just follow them?
Follow

@mistermonster I'm not sure if you move feds does it keep all your followers? πŸ€”

There's a foss one I can't remember, I was looking at, and also one for my country 😎

Not saying I'm going to leave here but I wish you could view other feds without having to join their instance. If memory serves you can't really see other feds without joining? They need a feature where you can view other feds timelines in a easy way.

@Wetrix yeah you can view other instances without joining. You just visit their website and scroll through the feed.

@mistermonster this is true but we need an easy and "convenient" way of doing this.

I think it's one of the things holding the fediverse back πŸ˜•πŸ”™

@Wetrix that is all in the client apps, not in the protocol. An android app, Fedilab, can do this. Other ones that I know of don't. I'm not sure about iOS. Maybe check out a couple of different apps and see which one has more features.

@mistermonster really? I've tried I think every Mastodon app for iOS there is and I can't find one that let's me see other feds without joining them first? Am I missing something maybe?

@Wetrix the feature will be like your local timeline but you can type the site URL, or maybe you can click one or add one as one of your timelines.

@mistermonster that's not quite how it works but I wish it did 😁 yeah you have to visit their website then join to actually read anything. Oh well.

Does it say I'm following you yet? It's showing a timer button on your icon now? Never seen that before πŸ˜… I tried adding you with my other mastodon ap so let me know!

How are things on your end? πŸ˜ŠπŸ”š

@Wetrix Yeah the timer icon should be gone, I have my profile set to private, I have to approve followers. This is to help prevent a useful social graph being captured of the fediverse.

things are alright on my end lol. I gave away some pineapple plants and fell down some stairs today lol luckily I am alright. How about you? How are things with the new friend?

@mistermonster Holy crap hope you're alright πŸ˜… I guess I just let people follow me on here I didn't even know about that feature for forever!

Yeah that person turned out to be
πŸ¦‡πŸ’© crazy πŸ™„

Other than that I'm going to start meditating and relaxing more. Either that or get a lawyer 🀣
