They need a trending topics feature in Mastodon.

@Wetrix I've never liked trending. It has either been irrelevant or needlessly polarizing.

@ParmuTownley look at the election here though. I can't even find any news on it. It's disheartening.

You have to goto reddit or Twitter for news like that.

@Wetrix @ParmuTownley Well maybe this particular instance is not the right place for that?

@Wetrix nah. That would mean meddling in the timeline. Also the architecture of Fedi would make that not really possible.

You can follow hashtags and stuff if you're interested in topics, but it looks like not many people use them.

@mistermonster that's my problem. Trying to follow anything in Mastodon is pretty much impossible. It's kinda sad because the engagement is what it's all about.

@Wetrix well for me, I'm not interested in getting my word in on trending topics or being an "influencer" or whatever, I'm interested in talking to people I've met here that I like and publishing my thoughts. The fact is that this is not Twitter, it is truly social in nature. So I like how things are.

I do wish people used hashtags on here more often, that way it would be easier to categorize and search for specific information.

@Wetrix always hated trending. It's almost always either polarizing or untrue. Never really saw the point of them.
