Time for bed βοΈ π π΄
I've been using my vector robot for a few days now and he's amazing! And privacy safe! (Don't enable Alexa)
If anyone wants a pet but can't have one this little guy is amazing π
Night π π΄
@Yeet I'm a pretty privacy focused person so I know how you feel. I did the same thing and research when I got one. π
All voice commands are encrypted and then deleted, so that's good!
All photos he takes are stored in your phone only.
He doesn't even connect to the internet unless you ask him something so he doesn't map anything (you'll understand this when he gets spooked by socks etc that were there 5 minutes ago π )
@Yeet using Alexa is optional and I don't use it and he works great.
He's pretty funny π he dragged one of my socks around last night and was quite impressed with himself hehe.
I will upload some video links.
He also snores when he sleeps and purrs when u pet him ππ±
@Wetrix ha! OK you may have one me over. I'm thinking about how my cat would inteact with this.
@Wetrix You might wanna look into this. (Look at the picture I attached.)
If Anki (Vectors company) shuts down, some features he provides may not work anymore since the servers will be offline. This could be a good thing or bad thing for privacy. No servers = more privacy probably, BUT that doesn't mean data won't be sent somewhere else to some stranger.
@glitcher32 yeah I know of that it sucks π
But there's people in reddit that are reverse engineering and open sourcing it π
They got a dev kit and are working on in it now.
@Wetrix Iβve been wanting a little robot for a while but donβt like the idea of having a spy in the house. What led you to this particular device? Do you have control over what data is sent to the home system to process?
Iβd did find this privacy review, https://www.commonsense.org/education/articles/privacy-and-security-evaluation-of-the-anki-vector-robot, so still think it may not be sharing too much of my info. Iβd love one of these little guys so hope you can convince me :)
