Just curious from Linux users, what if any protection software do you run? (Like McAfee, Norton type)

@Wetrix
I don't, using common sense you can avoid a lot of threats online and there is fact that there are not many viruses made for Linux in comparison to other OS

@nikolal hmm. True. What distro do you use? I like mint and Ubuntu so far.

@nikolal yeah that's what I'm going to goto again is probably mint ๐Ÿ‘Œ๐Ÿป

@Wetrix
Sudo lol.

Seriously, I don't run anything specialized, a firewall (ufw) and nothing gets elevated privileges unless I know how and why. I think a big part of the security in Linux is that windows is the big target, but I think user and privilege management don't get enough credit. It is really hard to get privileged access on a Linux box. Plus I think in general Linux users are more prone to maintain their system so it isn't as easy to get past them.

@mister_monster this is true. Even on a windows OS 99% of it's just common sense. ๐Ÿ˜„

@Wetrix apart from iptables, nothing much. I use privacy extensions on my browsers (PrivacyBadger etc) too.

ClamAV is quite good if you run a mail server, more to protect your users by scanning attachments though.

@michel_slm cool thanks I will look into it ๐Ÿ˜Ž๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿป๐Ÿ†’

@Wetrix iptables, common sense, and principle of least privilege

@opal what do you mean by principal of last privilege?

@opal or I can just block u for being some self entitled elitist snob. Cya. ๐Ÿ‘‹๐Ÿป๐Ÿ™‚
