Zuckerberg’s Facebook is reportedly working on a back-door content-scanner for WhatsApp, tantamount to a wiretapping algorithm - it will scan your messages before you send them and report anything suspicious.

@salsa20 that's awesome 😁
There's a good site for all alternatives to called
www.nomoregoogle.com
Someone in here posted it I can't remember who but excellent site.
😁
@Wetrix Fake news, apparently.
See https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=20585955 for details, and https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=20587643 what seems to be the response of WhatsApp's VP.
@temporal hmm. Well I'm not seeing any iron clad proof either way, but going by Shitbook's history of constantly lying through it's teeth to everybody since day 1 I'm going to er in the side of caution until it's 100% proven it's not real.
Even then I won't use it but you know lol 😂
@Wetrix not saying to trust Facebook, or even defending it in general. Just saying that this particular article doesn't seem to be properly sourced, and the particular thing it ultimately references is neither about WhatsApp nor about defeating E2E for antiprivacy reasons.
There's plenty of damning stuff to accuse Facebook off that's actually confirmed.
@temporal agreed. I guess we'll have to let it play it out until the truth comes forth.
@temporal this would also be something Shitbook would do to make congress happy and let them go ahead with libra and stop with new legislation and laws to force them to do this.
@Wetrix Why yes, who wouldn’t want this feature in an E2E messenger 🙄
@Wetrix @eff 's coverage from July 19th is still my favorite on this subject
Don’t Let Encrypted Messaging Become a Hollow Promise https://www.eff.org/deeplinks/2019/07/dont-let-encrypted-messaging-become-hollow-promise
@Wetrix From this news I actually convinced my close ones who I have converted to signal, to delete their WA on top of that!
