OK I don't understand this. I have 3 diff mastodon apps and NONE of them receive notifications!

They all have notifications on and background app refresh enabled and all my other apps are working fine.

I checked site settings. Any ides?

@marc0janssen oh hey sorry about that I didn't see this toot for some reason.

Yes I'm on iPhone with iOS as well.

So it's not just me??? Because I've been driving myself crazy trying to figure out what's wrong with my phone 📱😑

@Wetrix no problem by the way. I miss stuff too. I must say I really like Mastodon. Very friendly people. Nice network. Like the idea of open source and it being federated.

I personally don't mind the push notifications. I hope they work one day. But I don't really mis them either.

@marc0janssen yeah that's the funniest part is that ironically it's kind of relaxing not having the notifications not working 🤣

@Wetrix I was thinking of something (sometimes my brain does that)

In iOS to have push notifications the developer has to generate a push certificate in the Apple portal and install this certificate on his server to get push notification to apple. Apple will then deliver them on the phones with that app.

I am not sure but I guess the trouble is that for instance Amaroq pushcertificates aren't of course installed on all instances in the Fediverse.

Or do I miss the point here?

@marc0janssen I'm not getting notifications on Mastodon.cloud either so I don't think it's the instance 🤔☁️

I'm not sure I'd recommend it tbh. It's not as smooth as Amaroq.

A very nice free client though is "mustor"

Very slick and feature rich and also has an extension api so you can post things from the web and reddit etc
