@RaeYcrep Well, I only shoot astrophotography, so I'm fully manual, but here's 2 rules of thumb to get you off Auto mode:

If you want to control DoF - Set it to A (aperture priority). To get a nice bokeh, you'll want a shallow DoF (f1.8-ish).

If you want to control blur - Set it to S (shutter priority). Fast moving subjects such as pets, sport, etc will need something like 1/500. Waterfalls will need a tripod and a slow speed: 1/10 maybe.

What kind of subjects do you usually shoot?

You know what's more trouble than it's worth? External GPU connected via a Thunderbolt 3 port.

Lots of fannying around to get it working and not completely stable once it does finally work. Next time I'm going with a mini ITX setup rather than a NUC + external GPU.

@caesarologia @lgehr You could download from apkmirror, but a better solution would be from here: signal.org/android/apk/ then verify the fingerprint with keytool to ensure no tampering has occurred.

@Qwant This makes me really happy. Congratulations! I discovered Qwant early in 2019, when I decided to move all my Internet activities to EU-based providers. I love your service and I hope it receives all the success it deserves. Awesome!

@lgehr @caesarologia Sorry to hear that. Is there anything restricting background data or saving battery or anything such as this?

I don't have the same problem and I don't use any google services. But I also don't restrict any background network activity. It may be worth checking...

@RaeYcrep Did you ever see the real life gas turbine car which Chrysler made in the 1960s? Looks like something out of Fallout. Incredibly smooth engine apparently...

@caesarologia If possible, install LineageOS on your phone. You will now have a blank slate.

From here, you'll want to install F-Droid as your app store (you can also add 3rd party repos to this if necessary)

For messaging, the obvious choice is Signal. Phenomenal app - I use it for all my messaging and calls.

Navigation, there are quite a few options, but it depends on your use case. Take a look at osmand.net/ and navmii.com/ for starters.

@Yeet Wow! I had no idea it was so oppressive in Japan! Enforcing rules about one's appearance sounds very much like a dictatorship, which Japan isn't. I don't understand why they are so strict...

Testing the Android app, nothing to see here...

In my opinion, this is their finest work. Exceptionally good from Italy

Imagine if The Clash went off in a more wave & post-punk inspired direction.

@blacklight447 Totally agree. Devs haven't responded to the same question, so for now - I've ditched it...

@RaeYcrep Ouch! I can imagine... Never had the balls to throw bleach at my hair. Naturally, I'm a dark chestnut so most colours just don't work, or at best give a tint to my already dark hair. I dye it black about 3 times a year, although the greys are starting to show now πŸ˜‚

@RaeYcrep For me, it's a chemical straighten I did a few years back. My hair is so crap from years of back combing, crimping, colouring, heat abuse and other Goth traits, that the chemicals made my hair break off in places. Had to cut it short (for me). Never again...

@RaeYcrep It pops up now and then when the Steam Sale is on. I may pick up the base game and take a look.

Loved original Sim City on the Amiga back in the day, Sim City 2000 wasn't bad, but the franchise only seemed to get worse as time went on.
