Hey everyone!

It's the first day of online school 7th grade and I'm kinda not happy.

I just woke up a few minutes ago and school still starts in 2 hours.

I am a little rushed since, 1, I really, really, really don't want to install required malware on my computer and I haven't yet did that. 2, I probably can't even install those non-free, DRM-infected, spyware on the OSs I'm using(gnu guix and trisquel gnu/linux).

Welp, let's see how it goes!

@Tommy

Have you already asked your teachers or the principal or anyone else if you could use free alternatives? Of course, in a kind, non-demanding manner. It can work if done right.

Also, you could sign that FSF petition which has the addition of you being able to request them to contact your school on your behalf.

@glitchyhare

Yes, that's a great idea! Maybe I should ask my principal and teachers to use free alternatives.

And, I already signed the petition and gave some information about my school.

@Tommy
Why not create a VM exclusively for school. That way you can keep your main machine clean, while still meeting the requirements for your class?

@jforseth210
Hmm..

That might not be the worst idea!

But because we are to use Zoom,
it won't help to much.

But don't worry, I'll get it straight since I still have 20 mins.

@Tommy @jforseth210 Yeah that's what I was going to suggest, a totally separate system just for those apps you are forced to use for school.

@Tommy I feel like unfortunately the state of the world and the direction that schools are heading will essentially force users to install invasive softwares to participate. It's really disappointing but I think this has been the direction for a while now.
